Road CS Breaks silence after the fatal Londiani Crash, that occurred on Friday evening at the Londiani Junction, in the Nakuru -Kisumu highway.
He highlighted that rescue teams are already in place from both the county and National Government.
The Cabinet secretary further stated that investigations have been launched, to determine what was the cause of the deadly crash.
He stated,”Rescue efforts are underway involving officers from various agencies of national and county governments, elected leaders, the Redcross and other well wishers. More information will be shared with the public. The rescue efforts will be followed by investigations to determine the cause of the crash.”
Notably, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen sent his heartfelt condolences to all the families that have lost their loved ones in the accident.
He stated,”I take this opportunity to condole with the families, friends of the bereaved, and wish quick recovery to those injured following this tragic incident.”
Mourning the victims was President Ruto who also sent his condolences to the families.
He stated,”The country mourns with the families who have lost loved ones in a horrific road accident in Londiani, Kericho County. It is distressing that some of the fatalities are young people with a promising future and business people who were on their daily chores.”
“We pray for the speedy recovery of all survivors; you are in our thoughts. We urge motorists to be extra cautious on roads, especially now when we are experiencing heavy rainfall,” he added
The accident involved a truck that was travelling from Nakuru to Kericho, after loosing control, it rammed into vehicles and motorbikes before it landed in a ditch.
As of yesterday evening, Londiani Police boss, confirmed that 20 people have lost their lives and several others have been rushed to the hospital.
She stated,” We have lost more than 20 people in the horrific accident. Dozens of others have been rushed to various hospitals including Londiani, Molo Sub- county and Nakuru Level 5 hospital.It is a very bad accident, several people are feared dead while others are trapped in the wreckage.”
