In a press release, ICT CS launches digital laboratories in Maseno schools and st. Mary’s Yala.
He stated,” I was pleased to launch 3 JITUME DIGITAL LABORATORIES today, one each at Maseno School and Maseno University, both in Kisumu County; and at St. Mary’s School Yala in Siaya County.”
The cabinet secretary outlined that the laboratories will be a good place to equip youths interested in tech, with ready market skills.
He stated,”The Digital Laboratories are an initiative of the Ministry of Information Communications, and the Digital Economy to equip the youth with market-ready digital skills, to prepare them for the job market, and also link them to tech-jobs in the global marketplace.”
Notably, The cabinet secretary revealed that the government is rolling out it’s own smartphones that will be sold at 40 dollars( ksh.5516).
He decried that the affordability of smart phones had been a barrier to making the country digitized, as the president stated.
He stated,”We are very soon rolling out in the market our first batch of locally assembled smart phones. The affordability of smartphones has been a major hindrance to digital inclusion of many Kenyans and that is why as a government we have resolved to produce the gadgets locally.”
This comes after president Ruto launched digitized government services, that will help Kenyans access government services at the comfort of their smart phones.
