Police launch probe after catholic priest in Muranga dies. The priest served at a parish called St. Peter’s Church in Ruai.
According to the police report, Father. Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, 43, checked into the hotel on Friday night accompanied by a 32-year-old female.
The report read,”One Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku a k/m/a aged 43yrs old, a Catholic priest at Archdiocese of Nairobi and a farmer at Mangu area checked in at the said hotel together with his girlfriend who also happens to be her colleague at the workplace in Ruai.”
It was established that the priest ate chicken and some liquor on Friday night before retiring for the night, with the female, who is apparently a worker at his church.
At around 8 Am, the lady notified the hotel management, where the priest had been a customer for the last two years, that the priest was not well,
They stated,”They then rushed him to Kenol hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival while still aboard his motor vehicle Toyota Harrier black in color.”
The lady was then accompanied by the workers to Samuru police post, where she recorded a statement.
The sub- county police commander reported,”The body was fresh but had foam coming out of the mouth. We made inquiries and discovered that priests’ bodies cannot be preserved in a normal mortuary so we made arrangements to have it transported to Nairobi, accompanied by our officers.”
“We interviewed his companion and she told us she had had an affair with the priest for the last six years,” he added.
