Azimio’s Wycliffe Oparanya arrested, Raila Announces new dates for demonstrations.
Azimio’s Wycliffe Oparanya Arrested; This comes after the ministry of interior announced that several arrests will be made, for anyone who influenced yesterday’s demos.
The opposition has condemned the arrest saying Kenyans have a right to protest and that Oparanya should be released with Immediate effect.
Notably, the opposition highlighted that they would observe five days of mourning in honour of Kenyans who lost their lives, before they embark on their protests.
The coalition revealed that they are to take legal action against the police who were seen orchestrating extra-judicial killings. A team is already in place to collect evidence that will be used in filing a lawsuit.
Notably, Kenyans who were hurt during the protest, have been called to forward videos and photos that will be useful in the law suit.
The statement read,”We have instructed our legal team to institute proceedings against officers who went against their mandate of protecting Kenyans. We are asking Kenyans to share photographs of police who brutalised Kenyans. We are going for individual responsibility. We are also going against police commanders who know the actions of the Kenyans.”
The opposition leader has however, stood his ground, saying that the people of Kenya will be back in the streets, as of next week.
He stated,”We will have countrywide meetings next week Wednesday whether the government likes it or not.”
