Turkana governor supports Extension of Ruto’s presidential term after defecting from ODM.
Speaking on Thursday, during the Turkana Cultural and Tourism Festival opening ceremony in Lodwar town termed Tobonglore, Turkana Governor expressed that president Ruto has outdid himself during the one year in office, and he fully supports his extension in office.
The governor further announced that he was ready to succeed President Ruto after his 14 years in office.
He stated,”After your 14 years, I will be president. As Turkana County Governor from the onset, I vowed to work with you,”
On why he defected from the Orange Democratic Movement, The governor stated that he is facing threats from powers he declined to disclose.
President Ruto’s extension in office, was proposed early this year and supported by a number of leader including Nandi Senator, Samson Cherargei.
However, Some members of the United democratic Alliance, opposed the proposal saying Kenya kwanza will uphold the rule of law.
They stated,”The Ruling Party is presently focused on delivering on its promises to the People of Kenya, mindful that it shall in due course submit its scorecard for the people to evaluate. In doing so, we are guided by the timeline to the next general election.”
On his part, President William Ruto expressed that Turkana Cultural Festival in Lodwar; the festival brings members of the community from neighbouring South Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia, building cohesion and helping to prevent conflict through positive interaction.
