Raila Sets conditions for signing Bipartisan Talks Report.
Speaking in Kajiado County, Opposition leader, Raila Odinga gave some conditions for signing the bipartisan report.
The opposition leader highlighted that the cost of living must go down first before signing the report.
He stated,” No signing of the bipartisan committee report if it doesn’t have a provision for the reduction of the cost of living. We are holding talks with the government but the first issue must be the cost of living that should come down.”
He further questioned the government’s criteria of issuing scholarships saying the process is flawed and in no way does it treat Kenyan learners equally.
He also Insisted that 2022 elections should be audited and servers opened to scrutinize the results of the 2022 general elections.
Notably, Opposition leader stated that the members of parliament cannot be trusted.
He stated,”The MPs are receiving pay but not delivering on their mandate. A bill comes from the statehouse and is passed in the house without even discussions.”
On his part, Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka detested Mavoko demolitions saying Kenyans don’t deserve that kind of treatment.
He stated,”What we are witnessing in Mavoko today truly requires more than one to stand up and denounce the inhumane acts by the government on its own people. Over 30,000 families in the cosmopolitan town are now homeless and penniless.”
“They were “innocent purchasers for value without notice.” Places of worship too were torn down in an avalanche of sheer barbarity.
The right to ownership of property indeed the right to worship is enshrined in our Supreme Law under Article 40 (1) and Chapter 4 – The Bill of Rights,” he added.
He called upon all Kenyans to stand up and fight for the rights of Mavoko residents.
He stated,” It is thus incumbent on all of us, whether in Mavoko or elsewhere like we are today in Kajiado, to stand up. We will not be overpowered by an oppressor. We loudly and unequivocally denounce these irrational exploitation of our people. “Enough is Enough.”
