We are going to denominate Sabina and Kega- Jubilee Vice Chair breaks silence.
In a statement, Jubilee Vice Chair, David Murathe announced that Nominated Member of parliament, Sabina Chege and EALA MP Kanini Kega, will soon lose their seats because of showing support to Kenya kwanza.
This comes after The Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, is expected to approve the removal of Nominated MP Sabina Chege as Deputy Minority Whip.
Wetangula stated,” In this regard, Mark Mwenje replaces nominated MP Sabina Chege as the Deputy Minority Whip,”
“To give effect the provisions of article 36 of the Constitution on freedom of association and article 38 of the Constitution on the political right which confer upon each member of the House the right to determine which entity they wish to be associated with,” he added.
Murathe swore that as soon as they officially resume office, the step of denominating them from Jubilee will follow.
Murathe stated,”Once we are properly in office by the court, the first agenda business will be to denominate Sabina Chege and Kanini Kega. Kega’s position at EALA was from Jubilee.”
These happenings started because of the wrangles between the members of Jubilee allied to Azimio la umoja and Those allied to Kenya kwanza.
In his ruling, Wetangula stated,”Jubilee is hereby recognised as a parliamentary party with the meaning of Standing Order 20A, this recognition does not in any way elevate it to or affects the status given to the majority and minority party by the Standing Orders and the Constitution.”
“Consequently, Sabina Chege by the written support of 21 out of 28 members of Jubilee members and on account of having been the last officially recognised member of the Jubilee party forming part of the leadership is allowed to perform in the interim the role of the Whip of that party in the House,” he added.
