Meru residents come out to protest Governor Kawira’s impeachment.
Today, Meru residents came out holding placards written ‘Governor ni Mama’ which loosely translates to ‘Our Preferred Choice for Governor is a Woman.
The protests were happening in Meru town, impairing transport service, Along Meru- Nairobi highway.
The residents expressed their disappointment towards the members of county assembly, highlighting the impeaching their governor, has always been their aim.
One resident stated,” We know clearly what they said, that they will remove her from her seat even before we went to the ballot,”
They called upon the senate, to rule in favour of the governor, citing that these are just schemes put up to prevent Kawira from getting into office, in 2027.
According to Meru MCAs, Kawira is accused of misappropriation, misuse of public resources, paying salaries and advancing benefits to senior officers who did not render any services to the county.
