It is possible to collect Taxes without harrassing Taxpayers- President Ruto to KRA
Speaking at the Sarova Whitesands Hotel in Mombasa on Friday, during 2023 Taxpayers Day, The head of state empasized that the kenya revenue Authority needs to handle taxpayers with high professionalism and Kindness.
He stated,” I take this opportunity to emphasise to KRA that it is possible to be courteous, kind and gentle to taxpayers and at the same time become even more effective and efficient in tax collection.”
“It possible for the Kenya Revenue Authority to collect adequate amount of taxes to support our investments in public services without harassing taxpayers,” he added.
He further outlined that Techonology will be a good monitor for tax related abuses and also ensure efficient collection of taxes.
He stated,”The integration of technology in the administration of tax will tame such abuses, diminish evasion, reduce wastage and facilitate effective and efficient collection.”
During the event, The Ministry of Defence, the Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla & Aden Duale received an award for the Most Facilitative Government Agency in Customs and Border Control
Duale,”The award recognizes the Ministry for consistently working with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to facilitate key tax administration, compliance and enforcement initiatives across border points within the Financial Year,”
”The award highlights the importance of the Whole of Government Approach in tax administration,” he added.
Diginitaries who were present include; Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Cabinet Secretaries Njuguna Ndung’u, Kipchumba murkomen, Davis Chirchir, Chelugui, Salim Mvurya, KRA Chairman Anthony Mwaura, KRA Commissioner General Humphrey Wattanga, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah among others.
