Free Bundles to all Kenyans who purchase Ruto Launched phones
Speaking at a radio station, ICT principal secretary, John Tanui stated that the newly launched smart phones, that are being assembled at Mavoko plant, was a way in which the government is going digital.
The Mavoko plant is expected to create between 300 and 500 direct jobs and produce between 1.2 million and 1.4 million gadgets annually.
PS Tanui highlighted that upon purchase, Free bundles to all Kenyans with the smart phone, will be given. The amount or period of the free data access was however, not mentioned.
PS Tanui stated,”The mobile device will be sold for only 40 dollars, and it comes with a free bundle package for first-time users to get connected immediately upon purchase.”
The principal secretary further outlined the government’s plan to expose Kenyans to the digital market, which will also be a great impact to the economy of Kenya.
He explained that Kenyans will be paying for services and products after accessing the digital space.
He stated,”The Digital Economy is growing 2.5 times faster than the traditional physical economy. We are enabling our citizens to partake in the new emerging economy.”
Notably, The principal secretary reminded Kenyans that the government will still fulfill its promise of Countrywide Internet connectivity.
PS Tanui stated,”Our aim is to establish nationwide connectivity, which will be facilitated by fibre optic cables. This commitment spans over 100,000 km to ensure that even individuals in remote villages have access to this service.”
