Out president is in a mess; Corruption galore- Onyonka.
Speaking during an Interview on matters cost of living and El nino, Kisii County senator, Richard Onyonka warned of more hard times if the President does not step up.
Onyonka stated,”Our country is in a mess; corruption galore. A president is meant to give his people hope. I pity President Ruto because he promised to handle cartels. He can’t keep taking trips; he needs to fix this country.”
Onyonka further called out leaders for involving themselves in matters that will inturn affect taxpayers’ money. He stated that president Ruto had no business commenting on meteorological matters where the weather has lately been contradicting his statement.
“Head of State told the public misleading information about the El Nino phenomenon. Sometimes science can be interpreted, but political leaders should stay away from matters of the Kenya Meteorological Department,”
“As much as Kenya’s green agenda is a good idea, did CS Ababu Namwamba need to take a helicopter to go plant a tree? It’s crazy! The tree planting exercise shouldn’t be politicized or for show on social media,” he added.
Ugenya member of parliament, David Ochieng who was also in the same panel, stated that difficult times should be a wake up call to all leaders who want to exploit public resources.
He stated,”We are living in difficult times, and Kenyans don’t want to see leaders splashing public resources. Govt must lead by example and live within its means. The tree planting exercise could have been planned better to reduce expenditure,”
”There was no need for the Kenya Meteorological Department Director, Dr. Gikungu to apologize for El Nino miscommunication after being summoned by DP Gachagua ,” he added.
