Education Ministry announces scholarships in Hungary and China for Kenyan students who wish to pursue their education in the two countries.
The ministry highlighted that government of Hungary has offered 200 while that of China had offered 18 scholarships to eligible Kenyan students.
Hungary scholarships
1. Open to students who wish to pursue their Undergraduate (BA/BSc) in the fields of Agricultural Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science and Natural Science.
2. Students pursuing Master’s (MA/MSc) in the fields of Agricultural Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science and Natural Science and Doctoral (PhD/DLA) studies.
3. Open for one-tier master’s (OTM) studies in both Bachelor and Masters in the fields of General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Architecture, and Veterinary Medicine.
The ministry outlined,”The provisions covered by the scholarship include; tuition fee, accommodation/accommodation contribution for those who don’t live in the dormitory, Medical Insurance and a monthly stipend,”
“Please note that these provisions do not fully cover all the costs of living in Hungary but are only a contribution to the living expenses and the students need to add their own financial resources in order to cover all living expenses in Hungary,” read part of the statement.
How to Apply
1. Complete the Standard Scholarship Application Form.
2. Attach certified documents which include certified photocopies of ID, academic/ professional certificates, transcripts, Birth certificates, passport and other testimonials.
3. Should be submitted either online or delivered to Teleposta Towers on or before January 17.
China Scholarships
1.The 18 scholarships are for students in Undergraduate, Masters’ and PhD in the academic year 2024/2025.
2. Students in undergraduate programmes should have a minimum KCSE mean grade of B (Plain)
3. S/he should be less than 25 years of age, with an original KCSE certificate.
4. Should have completed their secondary education in the last three years.
5. Masters in Chinese programmes must have a Bachelors degree of at least Second Class Upper Division,, Be under 35 years of age.
6. PhD applicants must have a relevant Master’s degree from a recognized University and must be under 40 years of age.
Ministry stated,” It is mandatory for all interested applicants to go through the Ministry’s preliminary selection process,”
“Preference for nominations at postgraduate level will be given to teaching staff in the Universities and University Constituent Colleges,” Ministry noted.
