In an operation done by Kenya revenue and the directorate of criminal investigations, The DCI recover counterfeit drinks worth sh7.8 Million in Kiambu.
A Multi Agency team comprising of officers from DCI Headquarters- Economic and Commercial Crimes Unit and Kenya Revenue Authority, today conducted an operation in a residential house within Kirigiti area in Kiambu County
They recovered over 3,800 bottles of counterfeit drinks that include Chrome, Kibao, Aquila and Trace gins.
Additionally, 24,000 pieces of counterfeit KRA Stamps, 260 liters of Ethanol, sacks of assorted bottle caps and 3440 pieces of empty bottles have also been recovered from the same house
The value of the illicit recoveries is estimated at Sh7,836,500 with a VAT loss of Sh1,253,840 and exercise duty loss of Ksh2,774,551.49.
Recoveries deposited were escorted to a Kenya revenue Authority Warehouse. Notably, the detectives have launched a man hunt of the suspect who is still at large.
