Video of MP Milly Odhiambo Tackling down Ichungwah goes viral; Ignites debate.
Video of MP Milly Odhiambo Tackling down Ichungwah: Speaking in the National Assembly, Member of Parliament, Milly Odhiambo opposed Ichungwah’s proposal of moving a traffic Fine from ksh. 200 to ksh. 200,000 and another fine of sh.500 to sh.500,000.
Milly posed,”I was actually sad when Hon. Ichungwah was moving the tax policy. A tax policy should be anchored on what you promised hustlers. What answer are you going to give them? Are you living in utopia? Are you crazy? Are you mental? Do you need a mental check up?”
As she was speaking, Kikuyu MP of parliament, Kimani Ichungwa interrupted her, asking if she was really in a point of order by suggesting that people are crazy or sick.
Ichungwah stated,” More importantly, We are debating the statute miscellaneous amendment bill and we debated, concluded the tax policy motion, which was passed this morning. As usual Milly Odhiambo was not in the house. I don’t know whether she contributed to the motion but fines are there to deal with people breaking the law.”
Ichungwah therefore urged the speaker to restrict MP Milly to the issues at hand.
However, This did not sit well with MP Milly Odhiambo, who stated that as an esteemed lawyer she knows a connection between one law to another, one tax rule, to another tax rule.
Milly stated,”A policy should be linked to the laws that you pass, a policy cannot be divorced from the law; The law must follow the policy. I want to tell Hon. Ichungwah that indeed he knew what I was going to say, that’s why he preemptied,”
”That’s why I am going to repeat … are you mad? Are you mental? Think about the Kenyans you are harrassing, which Kenyans is going to pay half a million for removing a small piece of paper off a car? You are very unserious,” Milly added.
Mixed reactions ignited;
Juma stated,”Kimani Ichungwah wants a minor traffic fine of Ksh 200 moved to Ksh 200,000. Imagine being fined Ksh 200k because your insurance sticker has faded. This is the same guy who passed many harmful tax laws during Uhuru Kenyatta’s time & is currently blaming them on Uhuru. He is at it again. This man is a snake! A cobra.”
Kaikai stated,”The Parliament Majority Leader, Hon. Kimani Ichungwah is right, Members of Parliament Must argue intellectually and respond to each other respectfully .Members of Parliament like Milly Adhiambo who are used with vulgar language Must be suspended in parliament whenever they do so.”
