Senator Mandago in Trouble: Speaking during a public lecture forum in Murang’a county, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak said the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has a go ahead to charge Uasin Gishu Senator, Jackson Mandago.
Twalib Stated,”We found something against Mandago on the Finland scandal and presented the evidence to the DPP who has given us a green light to charge him in court.These are among the big cases we are handling and we are going to pursue them to the end.”
Senator Mandago is said birthed the Uasin Gishu Education Trust Fund, aimed at sponsoring students in universities abroad.
According to reports, about 200 students contributed approximately Ksh1 billion. However, the program did not take off and the money could not be accounted for.
Notably, EACC is Investigating Jennifer Gitiri who is said to be holding eight public jobs in state offices.
Twalib stated,”We don’t want to go by what has been published by the media that is why we have summoned her for interrogations and the information we get will inform our next course of action.”
The commission chair Oginde highlighted that they will deal with corruption that is going on in counties.
He stated,”There is a lot of corruption in the counties and it’s expected that when we do our investigation, the governors are the ones to be held accountable. We don’t target any individual but we follow corruption wherever it is. We are an independent institution and carry out our mandate as outlined in the constitution,” he added.
