News Just in: LSK sues Supreme Court over decision to ban lawyer Ahmednasir: The Lawyers Association argued that the move to ban Lawyer Ahmed Nassir, together with employees of his law firm from appearing before the court is unconstitutional and unreasonable.
LSK cited that Ahmednasir together with his employees never had a chance to be heard.
The Lawyers body also argued that the court did not consider the harm that would be caused to the lawyer and his employees as well as his clients.
The petition read,” It failed to consider other avenues of redress that were available. A democratic country requires pluralism, tolerance and broadminded which respectfully, the Supreme Court has failed to exercise.”
The lawyers’ body further outlined that in 1990 and early 2000s, at a time when corruption and incompetence were again said to be rife within the Judiciary, it was Ahmednasir who almost singlehandedly took onto the task of naming and shaming the judges, resulting in the dismissal of 23 judges.
This comes Chief Justice Martha Koome together with other judges, said they would not proceed with any case if Ahmednasir was part of the defense team, or if any gadget belonging to the lawyer followed the proceedings.
