Police Boss Rejects 80K Bribe, Forwards Culprits including Personal Driver to EACC: A police boss has attracted praises online after he rejected an 80K bribe from three suspects including his own driver.
While Reporting the incident, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) commended the Samburu Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Andrew Nyabicha who rejected the Ksh. 80K bribe from the three men
While narrating the incident, two men had approached the driver of the OCS and asked him to convince the OCS to accept the Ksh. 80K bribe.
The bribe was in a bid to release a suspect who robbed three foreign nationals he had smuggled into the country.
However, Immediately the three approached the OCS, he called the Ethics and anti corruption officials who arrested the three for attempting to bribe a state officer.
EACC spokesperson Eric Ngumbi lauded Nyabicha for being integral in the fight against corruption. He acknowledged the significance of such actions in safeguarding national security and upholding the rule of law.
“This is what EACC expects of all Police Commanders across the country to weed out corruption from police operations, which has the effect of compromising security and access to justice.”
Police reports indicate that the suspect whom the three wanted to be released had been arrested for robbing and trafficking three Ethiopian nationals.
The suspect was found in possession of stolen items alongside forged documents which exposed his criminal activities.
