Kisii Governor Nominates New Deputy Governor Moments After Monda Impeachment Appeal

This was made public by Kisii Assembly Speaker Philip Nyanumba during a sitting on Wednesday where the Governor presented the name for consideration by the Kisii Members of the County Assembly.

The nominated Deputy Governor,  Elijah Obebo is expected to undergo vetting before being sworn in within 60 days.

This communication comes moments after former Deputy Governor Robert Monda, Filed an appeal against his impeachment.

According to his Lawyers, they applied for ex-parte hearings before Judge Teresa Odera at the Kisii Law Courts on Tuesday.

“Yes we did the filing and the judge granted March 26, 2024, as the hearing date,” stated Wilkins Achoki one of the two lawyers representing Dr Monda.

Judge Odera, in court papers on Tuesday, ordered that the same be served to the relevant parties ahead of the hearing.

” I have carefully considered the application dated 18th,03,2024 ex-parte. The same be served. The interparte hearing set 26th, 03,2024 at 10 am,” stated Odera.
