Governor Suspends Business Licenses After Talks With Kindiki: On Monday, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki suspended Licenses of liquor brewing in the county after fronting the proposal to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
The governor argued that businesses will not allowed to operate until an ongoing audit is completed.
He stated,” The Ministry of Interior has finally approved our proposal that all manufacturers should have their license withdrawn until the inspection is done. The suspension will be until it is confirmed what they are making is legitimate.”
The governor further expressed that some companies were running their businesses without a go ahead from the government.
He also noted that some companies were operating despite being shut down by the government. This has forced the county government to take this step pf the implementing drastic measures that will weed out rogue business owners.
He stated,”In Tharaka Nithi county, no industry has been licensed by either the national or county government to brew any alcohol,”
At the time of publishing this article, over 8,000 businesses have been shut down rendering thousands of Kenyans who depended on the entities, jobless.
