Shots Fired After 300 Youths Raid & Vandalise Police Station: On Wednesday Evening, The Tiaty East Constituency police were forced to fire shots to disperse a group of unrully youths who raided and vandalised their police station.
A group of over 300 youths staged a protest at Tangulbei Police Station at around 4:00 pm, demanding justice for the death of a local resident.
According to the youths, the police have a case to answer on why a 24-year-old local was attacked and killed on his way home, immediately after being released from the police station.
The late had apparently been arrested for assaulting a police officer, he was later released on a Ksh30,000 cash bail by the Court moments before he met his Tragic Death.
The police report read,”The deceased decided to trek from Kabarnet to his home in Tangulbei and when he reached Loberer area he was accosted by goons who attacked and set him ablaze,”
“After receiving the sad news the locals decided to raid the station allegedly blaming officers for his death,” read part of the report.
The protesting youths vandalised a police vehicle’s windscreen, doors, headlights, they damaged office furniture, windows, and roof sheets, and stole seven motorcycles, including four belonging to the police officers.
Notably, One police officer was injured, he was rushed to the Tangulbei Sub-County Hospital for treatment, after he was hit by a stone on his face, losing one front tooth.
