Drama as Politicians Block Speaker From Accessing Assembly: A fracas was witnessed at the Kakamega County Assembly on Tuesday, April 9, after a section of the Members of the Assembly (MCAs) blocked the Speaker from accessing the Assembly.
According to the MCAs, Speaker James Namatsi failed to adhere to an order issued by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna.
According to the Members of County Assembly, Sifuna ordered the Speaker to replace the Assembly’s leader of the majority.
The Members of county Assembly went ahead to accuse Mr. Speaker Namatsi of bias in the County Assembly.
The commotion started after the members blocked the entrance to the Assembly room. As Namatsi was trying to force his way in, a physical altercation ensued.
This is not the first time, politicians from the same area are fighting over leadership changes particularly replacing Phillip Maina with Geoffrey Ondiro as the Majority Leader.
Same happened in March where the speaker was forced to run for his life after an opening prayer where the MCAs came at him for failing to effect leadership changes.
