Senate Issues orders for Governor Sakaja’s Arrest: The senate has directed the inspector General of Police to Immediately arrest Nairobi Governor, Johson Sakaja.
According to the senate, The governor failed to appear before the senate after being summoned for grilling over Miradi gas explosion which occurred in the Embakasi area of Nairobi County.
The governor was also fined Ksh500,000 as per the statutory requirements for leaders who unapologetically skip summons by parliament.
The legislators have therefore directed Inspector General Koome to present Present Sakaja to the committee on the morning of April 25.
Narok Senator Ledama Lamented,” Whoever is protecting Johnson Sakaja must know he is an accomplice and must look in the mirror and let justice prevail,”
“National Police Service, if you believe in following the law arrest Mr Sakaja and deliver him to the Senate,” he added.
This is not the first time, Sakaja is missing summons; The County Public Accounts and Investments Committee (CPAIC) issued a warning to Sakaja after he missed the committee’s summon.
He was later on given a 14-day ultimatum to appear and answer audit queries. He was also fined Ksh500,000 in November last year, missing the sessions without an apology.
