Government to Shut Down 56 Popular TV Stations[LIST].

Government to Shut Down 56 Popular TV Stations: The Communications Authority (CA) has announced plans to revoke licenses held by 56 Kenyan TV stations.

In a gazette notice published on April 12, Communications Authority Director General David Mugonyi, the move will take effect seven days after the date of publication which is  April 19, 2024.

The statement read,“Notice is given pursuant to the provisions of the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998, that the Communications Authority of Kenya shall revoke the licences of the following service providers/operators within seven (7) days,”

Some of the popular Stations being shut down Include; Mwariam TV, Miracles TV, Magodo TV, Mugumo TV, MurataTV, Pwani TV, RescueTV, Sauti TV, R T N  TV, Lamu Youth TV, Kwese TV, Christian Faith TV, Christian Church Jubilee TV, High Life Television, Health and Harvest Family TV.

CAK stated,”Upon revocation of the licences listed hereabove, the service providers/operators shall not be authorized to operate and provide the services as indicated in the respective tables above.,”
