Gov’t Exempts a Section of Kenyans From Housing Levy: Some Kenyans will be not pay the housing levy in accordance to proposals made in the Draft Affordable Housing Regulations 2024.
These include Kenyans living abroad. This particular lot, will be exempted from the Housing Levy as well as different types of income enjoyed by out-of-work Kenyans.

Another section to be exempted from the Levy where the income is comes from the pension or gratuity paid to a person upon termination of a contract.
Similarly, Kenyans who receive payment in form of reimbursement of medical expenses will also not be not pay the 1.5 per cent tax.
Further, Kenyans being reimbursed for travel and accommodation expenses for work-related activities as well as insurance compensation will not be counted as an income that meets criteria for Housing Levy deduction
