Bus Full of Students Swept Away by Floods Hours Before Machogu Postponed Reopening: Bus Belonging to AIC Moi Girls High School that was transporting students back to school was swept by floods on Sunday evening.
The tragic incident happened hours before education CS Machogu released a notice of postponement.
Samburu County Police Commander Thomas Ototo confirmed the incident saying that the bus had 52 passengers on board when it overtuned while trying to cross a flooded road, The Maralal-Wamba Road.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu at midnight, announced the postponement of school re-opening dates indicating that students should report on May 6th.
“Reports received at the Ministry of Education corroborated with data from other relevant Government agencies, show that a number of schools in various regions of the country have been adversely affected by the rains,”
