KURA Cancels 2.9 Billion Road Tenders in 30 Counties: In a notice issued by the Authority’s Deputy Director, Supply Chain Management, the directive will only affect tenders advertised in MyGov newspaper on April 16, 2024.
Reportedly, road tenders were budgeted at a total cost of Ksh2.9 billion to be funded through the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF) which is collected at the pump
The notice read,” This is to bring to the attention of the general public cancellation of all the tenders that were advertised in MyGov Newspaper on April 16, 2024, and the subsequent notice, addendums and clarifications.”
Affected Counties
Kiambu County is the most affected, with ten road projects
Murang’a County with nine projects including maintenance of roads along Kandundu village (Ksh65 million), Mjini Chief’s Office (Ksh50 million), Kigetuini-Mitundu road (Ksh60 million), Huhi-Rescue centre (Ksh55 million) and Majoice Road (Ksh75 million).
Nairobi County ( seven projects) including maintenance of State House roads (Ksh17 million), rehabilitation of Cedr road in Westlands (Ksh20 million), upgrading of roads to bitumen standards of 3D lane in Karen (Ksh60 million) and Farah Road (Ksh30 million), and rehabilitation of bridge on Kasarani-Mwiki Road (Ksh25 million).
Additional Counties Include;
Nakuru (6), Elgeyo Marakwet (1), Uasin Gishu (4), Baringo (1), Murang’a (9), Mombasa (5),
Kilifi (1), Kiambu (10), Isiolo (1), Meru (4), Embu (2), Kakamega (3), Vihiga (1), Nandi (3), Machakos (4), Kajiado (3), Nairobi (7), Laikipia (4).
Others are Mandera (1), Kirinyaga (2), Kericho (1), Nyeri (2), Nyandarua (1), Kisii (1), Trans Nzoia (1), Siaya (1). Kisumu (3), Migori (1), Nyamira (1) and Garissa (1).
