Body of Kirinyaga Trader who drowned after a vehicle he was driving plunged into river Sagana 9 days ago has been found.
In a report from Ndia sub-county police commander Moses Koskei, the body of Samuel Kamau Kagwanja, aged 41, was found on Saturday night over two Kilometres away from where his vehicle plunged on Thursday last week.
The police boss detailed that the now late Kamau was heading to his home in Sagana when the tragedy struck.
Residents of Sagana and the surrounding areas with the help of local divers have been trying to retrieve the body and the car for more than a week now.
“We have been camping here day and night for the last nine days but right now Kamau’s body has been found and we are going to give him a decent burial,”
Speaking to the media, The deceased’s family, revealed that Kamau was speaking to a friend on the phone as he travelled back home when he encountered the accident. On Tuesday, KDF soldiers called off the operation due to strong water currents which hindered their efforts.
On Wednesday, there was hope after one body part of a vehicle was discovered by the local divers in the river.
“While the Jangwani camp divers were moving downstream of river Sagana they spotted a body part of a motor vehicle which was highly suspected to belong to the motor vehicle of Kamau. We kept it at Sagana police station as operations continued at the river,” said Koskei.
The deceased’s body was moved to Kibugi funeral home in Kutus.
