Kenya Met Issues Weekend Heavy Rainfall Advisory: The Weather department has announced that rains are to persist in several parts of the country especially this weekend.
In the forecast, Kenya met outlined that while some regions would receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, others were set to receive moderate rainfall.
Some of the regions expected to experience heavy rainfall and potential thunderstorms included the Highlands West regions of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.
Counties in the above regions include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
The above areas will receive heavy rain in the afternoon with the rains expected to persist throughout the weekend.
Notably, moderate rains will be experienced in several parts of Nairobi and likely to persist until the weekend, we urge commuters to take precautions,” the Kenya Red Cross warned.
However, Areas of the North-western region of Turkana, Samburu counties, Coastal region which includes the counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale are set to experience sunny and cloudy conditions throughout the day.
