Tension in Kenya Kwanza as DP Gachagua Goes Silent, Misses State Functions After Ruto’s Directive
Tension in Kenya Kwanza as DP Gachagua Goes Silent: A debate has now ignited after tbe second in command, Rigathi Gachagua went silent this week missing a total of eleven state functions with reports pointing that it is because of President Ruto’s directives.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Last Public Appearance was on Monday when he addressed members of the public in Kagumo Market, Kirinyaga County
However, since then, the vocal leader has went mum, missing state functions such as the welcoming of Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni and the Friday, May 10th tree planting exercise.
Reportedly, he was scheduled to attend a tree planting exercise that was led by President William Ruto and other top government officials in Bomet County.
However, according to NTV news report, Gachagua failed to attend the exercise because of Ruto’s directives that caught him by surprise.
Deputy President’s office had on May 10th requested the Kenya Airforce helicopter to transport the DP to Bomet when their request was declined due to “orders from above.”
NTV further reports that the Deputy President proceeded to inquire about two other aircrafts to use in his visit to Bomet, but the owners also declined due to payment terms
Reports indicate that the DP called off the exercise in Bomet and has since missed ten other government functions including Statehouse meeting on Tuesday between President Ruto and KTDA officials.
The DP is also noted to have missed the Kenya Defense Forces passout parade on Wednesday in Eldoret before missing out on seeing off President Museveni who was escorted by Kipchumba Murkomen and Raila Odinga.
