Viral Story of Elderly Woman Who Attended Son’s Pass out Parade Amazes Netizens: During the recent KDF Pass-out in Eldoret, Jane was among attendees celebrating. Jane from Kipyosit, Bomet East had previously followed her son to the KDF recruitment at the Longisa recruitment center.
She didn’t have money for transport but braved the scorching sun to get there before the recruiting team started. She looked tired but determined to see her son’s efforts through to the end.
Since she was the only elderly woman in the crowd, her exhaustion caught the attention of the Army officers. They asked her what she was doing there. “Na wewe nyanya unafanya nini hapa?!” the commanding officer asked. Because she could barely speak the language understood by the team, a local was called to translate. “Nimekuja kumpa motisha kijana yangu apate kazi maana ni yeye tu niko naye,” meaning she was there to motivate her son to get the job since he was her only hope, the old woman said, trembling. She must have thought she would be arrested.
Surprisingly, the commander was touched by her words and asked which of the recruits was her son. The boy came forward, hugging his dust-covered mother and crying, asking why she had come.
The commander instructed his team to ensure the boy completed the assessment because of his mother. Later, she was given a ride, and her son joined the qualified recruits.
