All those on board the Iranian president’s helicopter Confirmed Dead: Iranian Red Crescent says ‘no sign of life’ after President Raisi’s helicopter crash
The head of the agency said that all passengers are believed to have died in the accident. Therefore, Everyone who was on board the Iranian president’s helicopter are considered dead.
Iranian Foreign Minister & former Iranian Ambassador to United Kingdom, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, also confirmed dead in the crash.
The helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was a Bell 212 made in the USA. Reports say the helicopter – one of three travelling in a convoy – made a “hard landing” after it got into difficulties in heavy fog in the north of the country.
President Raisi was heading to the city of Tabriz, in the northwest of Iran, after returning from an Iran-Azerbaijan border area.
63 Year old Ebrahim Raisi was elected president of Iran in 2021. In his tenure as president, he has overseen a strategy to expand his country’s regional influence — backing militant proxies across the Middle East, expediting the country’s nuclear program and bringing the country to the brink of war with Israel.
He was seen as the likely successor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as supreme leader – the highest political and religious position in the Islamic republic.
