Kenya Airways Addresses It’s Viral Statement Refuting Ruto’s Words of a Private Jet Being Cheaper Than KQ
Kenya Airways Addresses It’s Viral Statement; Yesterday, The Head of state through his X Account answered Kenyans concerned about his mode of Transport, During his USA state visit.
President Ruto wrote,”FellowKenyans, I have noted concerns on my mode of transport to USA. As a responsible steward of public resources and in keeping with my determination for us to live within our means and that I should lead from the front in so doing, the cost was less than travelling on KQ,”
However, His statement sparked a huge debate including an emergence of a ‘written statement’ by Allan Kilavuka who is the Group Managing Director & CEO of Kenya Airways, contradicting President Ruto’s Sentiments.
The statement read,”The management of Kenya Airways has taken note of the ongoing public debate on the cost of the airlines services that are being portrayed as above industry norms in some quarters. As a responsible corporate citizen and major commercial player in the Kenyan economy, we bear an obligation to set the record straight to our clients, partners, suppliers and the nation at large,”
“Kenya Airways introduced direct flights to the US in October 2018. We take pride in being one of the very few airlines in Africa to achieve this. It came after years of hard work between the airline and the Kenyan Government. A business class ticket to New York is currently priced at between Kshs 400,000 to Kshs 600,000.”
It added: A delegation like the one that accompanied his excellency the president would cost no more than Kshs 34 million, with all flying Business Class. A return ticket on a direct KQ flight to JFK clocks Kshs 847,715 on Business, a fraction of what it would cost for a private luxury Jet.”
“Whilst we cannot gag public discourse we plead with Kenyans to resist the temptation to disadvantage the national airline more, by making reckless statements that compromise our standing in the commercial realm, while also negating our hard fought recovery measures,” read part of the statement.
The Aircraft Company has however Flagged the above Statement saying it did not culminate from their company, therefore Fake.
