Former Governor Sonko Breaks Silence on His Alleged Death Certificate, Sets Record straight
Former Governor Sonko Breaks Silence on His Alleged Death Certificate: In a statement on his X platform, Governor Mbuvi Sonko highlighted that politics is really a dirty game.
Sonko faulted his opponents for running the campaigns saying the claims emerged after he clinched the Makadara MP seat
He stated,”When you destroy someone’s life with lies, take it as a loan, and it will come back to you with interest. Politics is indeed a dirty game. Faking a death certificate while I am still alive!! All these were mere propaganda, smear campaigns, and diversionary tactics aimed at tarnishing my reputation,”
These tactics began immediately after I won the Makadara by-election in 2011, with the aim of triggering another by-election. Throughout the years, I have been addressing these allegations in various interviews, including the recent one with Obina Show. Unfortunately, my detractors have not relented,” he added.
Sonko explained that the matter was settled by the courts in an Appeal he filed in 2001. Through the Appeal, he was set free on the offence of escaping from prison.
He wrote,”Even the allegations of selling Panadol, albino body parts, exporting private parts abroad, and the escape from Shimo La Tewa Prison were baseless. I was taken to Kibra Court the same year, and all accusations were proven to be mere propaganda,”
“The only evidence presented in the escape case was successfully appealed in the High Court’s Misc. Appeal case number 80 of 2001, leading to my release from prison “in accordance with the law, unless otherwise lawfully held for some other reasons,” he added.
He further issued a stern warning to those still using the issue to tarnish his name, saying he will not take the matter lightly.
He stated,”We can not continue to recycle the same propaganda for over 15 years. It has taken me decades to be where I am today, and I will deal mercilessly with anyone trying to use any method (propaganda or malice) to tarnish my name. To those still plotting against me, please apply a new approach, and I will be prepared to defend myself.
“There are two individuals who impersonated me as a means of further defaming my reputation. One of them deceitfully deceiving innocent individuals through fraudulent scholarships, loans, and motorcycle sales. Meanwhile, the other individual is shamelessly sharing explicit images by connecting women with men under my fake FB account,” he added.
