George Thuo died in 2013 moments after visiting a popular restaurant in Thika Town, Kiambu County.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) convinced the High Court beyond reasonable doubt that the legislator died after being poisoned using Cyhalothrine Pesticide
“The prosecution informed the court that the convicted individuals showed no remorse and thus should not be granted leniency,” ODPP stated the need for the maximum sentence.
ODPP further petitioned the High Court to hand the maximum sentence requested considering statements from the Heartbroken, Thuo’s family
On her part, Thuo’s wife confirmed her husband met his untimely death while in the company of the six convicted individuals.
“According to the probation officer’s report, the victim’s family called for a fairly lengthy sentence, emphasising the need for justice,” ODPP reported.
Following the requests from the prosecution, the The court adjourned and will deliver a sentence to the six individuals on June 21, 2024.
