Gov’t Guards Killed, Other Injured After Heavy Gunfire With Police: Two forest guards were shot dead in the wee hours of Monday, June 3, after heavy gunshots were heard in Kapcherop, Marakwet West Sub County in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Reportedly, There was a heavy fire exchange between a police officer and the forest guards at the Cherengany Forest Station.
It has been revealed that the officer was part of the Border Patrol Unit based in Todonyang Camp in Turkana North Sub-County, Turkana County and was armed with an AK47 rifle.
According to the area chief, gunshots were heard from the scene where two guards aged 22 and 20 years old were shot dead.
Apart from the two forest guards, one 24-year-old lady who is a forest ranger was injured in the incident.
“He also shot a female forest ranger who sustained gunshot injuries on the upper right hand and the right side of the chest,” read part of the report.
However, at the time of publishing this article, the cause of the gun fire was yet to be established
