Court Acquits Oscar Sudi in Longstanding Case: The Court has acquitted the Kapseret Member of parliament over charges of forging academic papers.
According to Magistrate Felix Kombo, the state was unable to build a strong case against the Legislator, citing failure to produce and substantiate the documents.
The Magistrate further faulted the investigating agencies over how they obtained a part of the evidence saying there was a credibility issue with how the evidence was collected from a hotel.
The Defence Team stated,”We also thank the court for considering the evidence that was produced, and the analysis of the evidence. We confirm that our client is qualified and doesn’t have fake certificates as alluded to and has been set free by the court,”
The defence complained that the case had dragged on for about 8 years and therefore the acquittal was a huge relief to them.
The acquittal came after former Highway Secondary School principal, Patrick Maritim, told the court that Sudi did not sit his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams at the school in 2006.
Speaking before the court on Thursday, May 19, 2022, Maritim denied that Sudi did not step foot into the school and his purported index number could not be traced to him.
