DP Gachagua’s Full Statement and Stance on Current State of The Nation: Deputy Rigathi Gachagua applauds President William Ruto’s decision to withdraw the controversial Finance Bill, says dialogue should have been embraced to avoid deadly protests.
He stated,”My children are of the same Gen Z. No parent should have to bury their child, especially in such circumstances. I cry for our children; I am unable to bear the pain of innocent young children whose only crime was to air their views in a democratic country,”
“The loss and destruction of public and private property is unfortunate. I empathize with MPs for the traumatic experience in and out of Parliament. Kenyans will have the opportunity to express their displeasure in the next General Election,”
The Deputy president Further questioned when did the rain start being Kenya kwanza since they were a popular government.
He stated,”We were once the darlings of the people but We have a dysfunctional NIS. President William did not know that the people of Kenya didn’t want this Finance Bill 2024.”
He therefore highlighted that NIS director Noordin Haji must take responsibility for the deaths and the breach of Parliament underscoring that He must resign.
He stated,”The security sector was caught off-guard by the intensity of the protests. Had NIS DG Noordin Haji done his job, we would not be where we are today.”
Notably, Rigathi Gachagua urged Kenyans to call off Thursday protests and asks Ruto to compensate bereaved families and injured protesters.
He stated,” I beseech you my sons and daughters to call off tomorrow’s planned protests.”
