Gov’t Issues New Directives on Collection of IDs, Birth Certificates and Driving Licences
Gov’t Issues New Directives on Collection of IDs, Birth Certificates and Driving Licences: The government through Huduma Kenya on Friday urged Kenyans who are yet to collect their documents including driving licenses, identification cards and birth certificates to hurry up and do so.
According to huduma Kenya, about 45, 575 smart driving licenses, 134,602 Identification cards and 38,928 Birth Certificates had already been processed and are ready for collection.
Kenyans who had registered for the above documents were directed to collect them at any of the 53 huduma centres countrywide.
Notably, Huduma Kenya decried that the pending court cases had created a backlog in the system which has been the main cause of delay in the issuance of ID cards.
“Due to the court orders stopping maisha card production, it leads to many IDs not being processed causing a delay in ID production,” Huduma Kenya stated.
“We apologise for the delay. We are experiencing a backlog but it is being handled,” Huduma Kenya added.
