Chaos As Sakaja is Chased Away From Toi Market After Being Pelted with Stones: Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja was on Saturday afternoon forced to seek refuge after a section of angry Kibera residents resorted to stone him
The governor had paid a visit to the Toi market where four people reportedly died after a mysterious fire razed down several stalls and houses within the market.
The incident took a quick turn, Sakaja’s security guards were forced to shield the county chief as he was being ushered away from the chaotic environment.
Governor Sakaja was whisked away to his car before being driven away as residents faulted him form mismanaging the county.
While giving an update on the incident, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna revealed that four people had lost their lives in the tragedy.
“We had another fire at Toi Market this morning. I have spoken to area MP Peter Orero who confirms four people tragically lost their lives,” Sifuna noted.
The senator pledged to offer support to the affected families and businesses. He also assured the residents of the county government’s commitment to end such fires.
