Senator Cherargei is Useless – Lawmaker Oscar Sudi Declares
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Monday took a swipe at Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and former Agriculture Minister Kipruto Arap Kirwa terming them as political twins with complex English but very ‘useless’
“In Kenyan politics, Kipruto arap Kirwa and Samson Cherargei, often seen as political twins, spewing complex English to intrigue and confound. Yet, beneath the polished words, they’re as useless as chicken eggs. Very useless! Very useless!” Sudi wrote
Cherargei, who is a staunch supporter and ally of President William Ruto, has been facing criticism from Kenyans including his counterparts following his bill proposing an increase of the presidential term limit from five years to seven years.
The UDA party has since released a statement opposing the bill through its Secretary General Hassan Omar who said that the deal goes against Kenya’s democratic ideals and threatens democratic gains made so far.
“This cynical, profoundly misguided Bill contravenes the long-held aspiration of the Kenyan people to retire undemocratic entrenchment of unaccountable political monopolies,” Hassan stated.
National Assembly majority leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah also joined the debate and termed the bill’s premise as “dead on arrival.”
The opposition party ODM on Monday also rejected the bill saying, “The position of the ODM party is that we do not support any proposals to amend our Constitution to extend any elected leader’s term in office.”
