ODM MP Now Changes Tune, Clarifies Viral Video Calling For Ruto’s Impeachment
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has addressed a video clip where he was recorded calling for the impeachment of President William Ruto.
According to the clip, The legislator is recorded saying that he expects at least 340 MPs to vote in favour of Ruto’s impeachment motion.
“When the members of parliament report to Parliament next week, the Gen Z need to force those members to impeach the president. Any member of parliament who will not vote for the impeachment of the president, they (should) occupy their homes. If I bring a vote of no confidence against President William Ruto I expect 340 members of parliament to support it,” Amisi says in the clip.
“They need to force the members of parliament to impeach the president. We do not need to put Gen Z’s on the streets to be killed when we have the National Assembly to do what Gen Zs are supposed to do. The Gen Zs have given us a platform now what is remaining is for the members of parliament to do the rest.”
Amisi has however Defended himself saying the clip is old, taken in June 2024 at the height of anti-government protests led by Generation Z (Gen Z), and could be taken out of context in the current situation.
“This is a very old clip. Taken during the anti-finance revolt, those using it to expand their bargain from their godfathers, try another day. Impeachment of a president is not announced, it just happens. So relax, take a deep breath and focus,” Amisi stated.
The vocal Saboti MP however did not indicate whether he had changed his stance since June on the impeachment of the president.
