Uganda’s Opposition Leader Abducted in Nairobi, Wife Confirms
Uganda’s opposition leader Kizza Besigye was reportedly abducted in Nairobi on Saturday, November 16.
Confirming the incident was his wife, Winnie Byanyima, who stayed that the politician went missing while in Nairobi to attend the launch of Martha Karua’s memoir, Against The Tide, over the weekend.
Winnie took to her X Platform to appeal to the Ugandan Government for the immediate release of her husband .
KANU chair Martha Karua also joined in on the call for Besigye’s release and called out Uganda’s President Kaguta Museveni and his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto to ‘come clean on his safety and whereabouts.’
Kizza Besigye is a human rights activist and the leader of the opposition in Uganda. According to Uganda’s Daily Monitor, Besigye was last seen at an apartment on Riverside Drive in Nairobi’s Westlands estate where he had attended a meeting with unidentified people.
