CJ Koome Issues An Official Statement on Recent Abductions, Sends Message To The Police
Chief Justice Martha Koome has joined the opposition and religious leaders in condemning the increasing cases of abduction in the country.
Through a press release on December 26, CJ Koome highlighted that Kenya is a democracy where the rule of law stands as a guiding principle of governance.
According to Koome, there is no constitutional provision for such forced disappearances, and such incidents contravene the rights and freedoms of Kenyans.
The Chief Justice has therefore called on security agencies and other relevant entities to adhere to the law to safeguard fundamental rights and freedoms.
Her statement comes hours after the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja distanced the National Police Service (NPS) from involvement in the abduction of youthful Kenyans.
