Atleast people have left without shelter fter a fire razed their houses at Langas Estate in Eldoret.
Fortunately, No one was seriously injured, as residents managed to rescue children who were in some of the houses.
The affected families were living in the houses at Kisumu Ndogo, which is a heavily populated slum area characterised by temporary mud and iron sheet houses.
According to Gaitano Museveni, who is a village elder,they heard a loud explosion leading to a huge fire that ran through the houses.
The residents have since blamed the Uasin Gishu County Fire Department for failing to respond to the incident.
Residents used basins and buckets to ferry water from nearby water sources, but they were unable to put out the fire.
Workers from the Kenya Power Company went to the area and disconnected electricity from the area to avert further damage. Two electricity posts were burned in the fire incident.
