At least five people have lost their lives while ten others are nursing critical injuries following a road crash in the Mutwot area along the Kapsabet-Eldoret Highway.
A police report detailed that the accident happened after a 14-seater passenger vehicle lost control and rammed into an oncoming school bus belonging to Cheptabach Secondary School.
The victims of the accident were mostly residents of Nandi Hills who had hired the school bus and were returning home after attending a public event at a neighbouring county.
Those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Mosoriot Health Centre, where they were treated and discharged.
Videos and images seen by Darubininews.co.ke depicted the school bus damaged on its front with a broken windscreen and side mirrors.
Moments after the accident, the two vehicles were towed to the Mosoriot Police Station, with the police launching investigations into the accident.
Witnesses who spoke to the press narrated that the matatu full of passengers was being driven at a high speed when it lost control and caused the accident.
This happened hours before another road carnage along the Londiani-Muhoroni road, where three people died and 44 others sustained injuries.
