Acting Gender Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has appointed Captain (Rtd) Kungu Muigai as a member of the Kenya Cultural Centre Council.
Muigai, who is a first cousin to former president Uhuru Kenyatta, will be serving in the role for a period of three years, effective immediately.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 (1) of the Kenya Cultural Centre Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage, re-appoints— Kungu Muigai to be a member of the Kenya Cultural Centre Council, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 24 January, 24, 2025,” the Gazette notice reads.
This comes months after Muigai called upon the residents of Mt Kenya to rally behind the Kwanza Kwanza administration.
“We should support the government instead of criticizing it daily and this is a clarion call to all Mount Kenya people and leaders,” he said.
“The government took power, and it is time for everyone now to do his job and others to wait for elections in 2027. That person who is telling you that the government can fall, governments don’t fall, even if it’s headed by a boy don’t play with it,” he added.
