Tension has engulfed Bondo sub-county hospital in Siaya County after a police officer attacked and stabbed two patients admitted in the same facility.
The officer who is attached to Aram Police Station in Rarieda sub-county is said to have been admitted at the male ward yesterday.
According to the hospital management, the incident happened around mid-night when patients were heard screaming.
Nurses and the clinical officer on duty rushed to check what was going on. Upon arrival, the medical staff established that the police officer had already stabbed a 14-year-old boy on the neck and a 20-year-old patient on the chest and was heading towards the third patient.
It was at that time that they raised the alarm before more staff and security guards arrived and managed to subdue the officer who still had a knife in his hands.
While confirming the ill-feted incident, the County Police boss stated that the matter is currently being handled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to determine the next cause of action.
