Smriti started working at K24 as a news anchor in January 2008. In September the same year, she joined NTV.
At NTV, she anchored and hosted various programmess, including NTV This Morning, NTV Tonight, and the wildlife-focused show NTV Wild Talk, which airs weekly at 10pm.
Smriti wrote,”Sixteen-and-a-half years of service to the Nation Media Group and to the nation at large. Thank you for trusting me. For now, tune in tonight at 9pm for my last bulletin on NTV.”
Her exit comes amid a period of transitions in the media sector, with several high-profile journalists moving to new roles.
Roselyne Obala, who was the political and assignment editor at NTV, has resigned to join the Ministry of Interior as Communications Adviser and Director to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
Other notable media exits include Franklin Wambugu, the former Radio Citizen presenter who joined the Office of the Deputy President as Director of Communications.
Journalist Eric Latiff also left Standard Media Group’s Spice FM for a role at Nation Media Group.
Meanwhile, Ken Mijungu exited KTN after four years and joined TV47 under Cape Media Limited
On the other hand, veteran journalist Janet Mbugua has made a return to the screen after nearly eight years, rejoining NTV
