The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested traffic police officers in Nairobi caught collecting bribes.
The officers were arrested near Moi Avenue Primary and Junior School in Nairobi’s central business district (CBD).
The officers were ambushed EACC detectives, dressed in plain clothes, arriving at the scene, prompting the two traffic officers to flee, however, their efforts to run were in vain.
There was drama during the arrest after members of the public thronged the area while castigating the officers for collecting bribes from motorists using the road.
Furthermore, EACC officers faced challenges in effecting the arrest as members of the public momentarily blocked them, eager to record videos and take photos of the incident..
Shortly after, the officers, including a biker cop, were bundled into the back seat of a nearby sedan. The scuffle escalated when one officer insisted on being freed from the handcuffs, attempting to break free and exit the vehicle.
He was quickly restrained and transferred to a waiting maroon Honda CRV as the crowd cheered on, praising the detectives for their swift action.
