Four people have died, and 56 others have been left nursing injuries after a night-time road accident in the Ogona area on the Londiani-Muhoroni road.
The unfortunate accident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, February 24, when a passenger bus affiliated to climax Sacco, travelling to Nairobi, collided with a truck heading towards Muhoroni.
Reportedly, the bus lost control and swerved off the road, before landing in a sugarcane plantation.
First responders, including police officers and area residents, rushed to assist, ensuring the wounded were taken to hospital for treatment.
Three women and a man died on the spot. Their bodies were taken to St. Vincent de Paul Hospital Mortuary for identification and autopsy.
Climax Sacco confirmed the accident revealing that injured passengers were taken to the Koru Mission Hospital, the St. Vincent de Paul Mission Hospital Muhoroni, and Muhoroni Subcounty Hospital.
Four out of the 56 who were critically injured were transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu for specialized medical care.
